Melissa Paul, ABC 10 – In this edition of Home Appreciation, we address the most common places in your home for leaks, what to do if you have one, and what can happen if you don’t address that leak in a timely manner.

Leaks can develop in walls, ceilings, foundations, and in your yard.  The two main reasons for water line failure are improper installation, as well as corrosion from normal wear and tear over time.

There are several ways you can tell if you have a water leak.  The most obvious is if there are wet spots on the floor, ceiling or wall.  Many times they aren’t apparent until your water bill goes up unexpectedly.  If you spot any signs of water leaks, don’t wait to call somebody for an estimate.

Water can travel through the structure before becoming apparent.  If you are dealing with plumbing leaks at your home or business, you may want to consider electronic water leak detection before digging up your walls, celing, or flooring to pinpoint the leak.  If the leak isn’t repaired, it can not only increase your water bill but also do significant damage to your home or business – so if you have a water leak, make sure to get a water line repair immediately.
